Identity Management defines how organizations manage the identities and thus the privileges of their employees, customers, and associates. Originally, in the late 1980's and early 1990's, the driving force behind identity management was electronic commerce - knowing whether the buyer had the means to consummate a transaction and whether the seller was legitimate. Security was rarely a concern. After September 11, national security became the paramount focus. Interestingly, the difference between the two models is based upon the difference between financial and catastrophic risk. Imadgen staff helped found and serve on the Boards of organizations such as the Electronic Authentication Partnership, the Federation for Identity and Cross-Credentialing Systems (FiXs), and the Electronic Benefits and Services Council.
